Us Rao sisters are always up for a fun shoot and this one for the Armoire Pop Up was no different. One of the main reasons of course was that we loved our outfits, a category of clothes that finds itself in that sweet spot of comfortable ethnic wear. I’ll get into the details in a bit.We shot at the lovely Buva House in Nungambakkam, with our talented friend Shannon Zirkle just telling us to have fun, and as you can see, that’s pretty much what we did. Again our clothes allowed for ease of movement, and that made a huge difference.

I went for the Kavita Bhartia cape and drape skirt combo because I love separates, and nine out of ten times choose a bright colour over a neutral. I could also picture styling both pieces in a more casual or western way for later use. Rochelle on the other hand is actually someone who is quite comfortable in a sari and thanks to years of being a runway model, can tie one in minutes. I knew she would love this modern version of it- palazzo pants with a fixed ‘pallu’ and a beautifully worked crop top.

No surprises that she enjoyed strutting around and you can see for yourselves just how lovely the whole ensemble looks. And even after wearing it a while we were still fine, versus how grumbly we (well mainly I) get when I’ve been in traditional clothes for a while.

Don’t miss our lovely accessories, which we were trying to show off when we broke into uncontrollable laughter. It took a while before we could get the situation under control but decided we should share these pictures anyway. They capture the sibling craziness that I’m sure all you sisters totally get. All of this and more is available at the Armoire Pop up happening tomorrow (Friday, Feb 9th) at Buva House, Chennai. See you there!
