What can often happen on holiday is that in an attempt to see and do everything, you’re constantly on the go. And while I totally get the concept of making the most of your trip, I also like a little bit of relaxing-and-taking-it-easy time. By that I don’t mean sitting in your hotel room and watching TV, but more the lay on the beach, reading a book type of chill time. So big points to my friend Shannon for not only managing to make a plan that the entire group liked, but choosing an activity that allowed for us to enjoy the amazing place we were in, in the leisurely fashion that I like.

Larriland Farms is in Howard County, Mariland where one of the popular summer activities is to pick your own fruit and vegetables. We decided to go with the fruits on offer, starting off our picking trail with the apples. I will admit that I didn’t contribute too much to the picking part, instead spent more time enjoying the scenery and taking photos of the group. That’s an important role too! The little ones with us were on the job and despite some of us only pretending to work, we came back with bagfuls of apples.

Our next stop was at the raspberries. At this point I should mention that they give you containers to put all your picked berries in, that they weigh, you pay a nominal amount for, and then take home. Of course you can eat as much as you like. Our group ended up pretty much eating everything we picked, resulting in empty cartons, but full stomachs and happy berry stained hands and faces.

Post our ‘hardwork’ and after we had taken a quick break to enjoy a couple of sodas, we decided to go on the hayride. We all piled in, careful to put our keys and things into plastic bags, being warned that we would literally then be looking for our stuff in a haystack. It was a great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful summer’s day, get a guided tour of the farm, and of course take more pictures. All in all, a fun outing, and a couple of weeks’ supply of apples for Shannon’s mom.
